The next things happened very
quickly. A small building blocked a clear view to the bridge. As I passed the
building, I saw a car, a dark VW-Golf, driving with greet speed towards me.
Before I could brake the car hit me. In a reflex I threw my arms before my
face, to break the impact and to protect my face. Unlucky I was, this was not
sufficient. My arms sticked like glue on the broken front window, but the rest
of my body slipped to the side over the roof of the car. With my head first I
made a free fall off the roof, hitting the hard rocks of the street with my
nose and front teeth first. The perfect Face Plant. In the distance I heard
the remains of my beloved bike landing near the building that blocked the
view. I lay on the bridge, with my face still on the street. I was still
conscious, but it became very quiet around me. It was 8.25 a.m.
