The DW-5300 is released February 1994, so it was already a very late DW-5X00 series model back then. There was a WW-5300 released in the beginning, so Casio used the gap in the model numbers to fill it in with this model. A year later Casio released the DW-6800, which is about the same model, but with a EL backlight and some other cosmetic stripes on the bezel. Tom Cruise wore this model in the movie "Mission Impossible".
