For a long time I had only a red DW-8500. I like the Mud Resistant models, but these Codename models were not easy to find. Somehow I bought one in January 2007, but totally forgot about it. When I saw one for sale in June 2007 I thought I missed that model in my collection, so I bought it.

Funny thing was, when I added it in my database, I found out I already had bought one a few months earlier, and it was actually from the same seller too.

When I took them both, I noticed small differences. The JP model has the text Codename, where the overseas model has the "Illuminator" text.  Also is the resin of the overseas version very very dark khaki (hardly visible) on the outer parts of the bezel, while the JP model is totally black.
