The morning of August 11th 1999.
I was in the middle of the heart line of the final eclipse of the
Millennium. I was with thousands of people in a big meadow in the Champagne,
France, so we had very nice trips before and after the eclipse too. I
remember we visited the enormous caves of Merciers. We traveled with a train
underground for about 15 minutes and probably saw a small part of the
enormous collection.
The eclipse itself was
awesome. I believe it lasted only around 10 minutes. The shadow of the moon
flew with an unbelievable speed over the hills. It was faster than a Jumbo
Jet. Before you realized the shadow was coming, everything went black! Birds
and insects stopped singing and the crowd was silent instantly. Truly
one of the greatest phenomenon's I have ever witnessed!
Casio released a special Giez
model to remember this special occasion. It's the GS-500ME-8BT |
